IDEAS hands-on planning course

During this hands-on training series, delegates will use a reconstruction software to plan endovascular repair and make accurate sizing in order to choose the right stent graft needed for standard EVAR as well as fenestrated/branched/thoracic EVAR. Pre-selected cases and CT-angiograms encompassing a range of anatomical scenarios and technical complexities will provide a realistic set-up for the training. Tutors will be on hand to answer any questions that may come up and will be happy to support the delegates during the planning process.

Standard EVAR

The basic sessions on Standard EVAR are aimed at trainees and juniors, as well as advanced interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons who wish to refresh their skills.

In case someone has no prior knowledge of sizing, but would be interested in attending, we would recommend visiting the theoretical workshop on Tips and tricks in EVAR planning and interventions (Sunday, Sept. 11, 16:15-17:15) in advance.

Learning objectives

  • To learn in depth the planning steps for EVAR
  • To practice software manipulation to assess aneurysm anatomy
  • To learn anatomical difficulties and practice measures to overcome them
  • To understand specific IFU for the common devices and how that affects planning and device selection
  • To learn the important points during planning stage that reduce radiation, contrast dose and smooth out the procedure workflow

FEVAR, BEVAR & TEVAR

This planning course is aimed at senior trainees and young consultants with at least some experience in standard EVAR who wish to upskill for more advanced techniques.

In case someone has no prior knowledge of sizing, but would be interested in attending, we would recommend visiting the theoretical workshop on Tips and tricks in FEVAR/BEVAR planning and interventions (Monday, Sept. 12, 17:30-18:30) in advance.

  • To learn in depth the planning steps for FEVAR, BEVAR, and TEVAR

  • To understand the differences in planning between the two techniques
  • To learn anatomical difficulties and practice measures to overcome them
  • To understand specific IFU for the common devices and how that affects planning and device selection
  • To learn the important points during planning stage that reduce radiation, contrast dose and smooth out the procedure workflow

How to participate

Participation will be free of charge for all registered CIRSE 2022 delegates, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As these sessions offer practical medical training, participation is for qualified medical professionals only.
