Dear colleagues,
Inspired and enthused by the phenomenal 2024 meeting in Lisbon, we have begun to compile an IDEAS 2025 programme that further develops and encourages interdisciplinary teamwork for the best outcomes in aortic treatment.
IDEAS 2025 will be a multi-faceted event with a range of session structures, each tailored to suit the topic at hand. Case-based discussions will offer practical, real-world learning experiences, while focus sessions will dive deeply into technical challenges. Additionally, a video learning session will allow attendees to both hear and see valuable tips and techniques demonstrated by some of the field’s leading interventionists.
This year’s expert round table (ERT) sessions will cover a lot of ground. In an ERT on thoraco-abdominal endovascular repair, one of the lectures will delve into the topic of inner branches and ask the question whether they are a hype or a selective option. Other lectures will focus on the prevention of spinal ischaemia, deciding between custom-made and off the shelf devices, and how to choose the right bridging stents. An ERT concerning acute type B dissection will give trial updates and management tips. A final panel will attempt to answer the question “Do the results justify the use of modified EVAR”?
The focus session covering unsolved issues in standard EVAR is another session to look forward to, attempting to answer questions concerning the age of EVAR patients, whether EVAR in angulated necks is durable, and when to say no to EVAR in favour of open repair. Further focus sessions will centre on ongoing issues in the aortic arch, from full percutaneous aortic arch repair to how to reduce acute and mid-term strokes, and on endoleaks after EVAR.
This year’s IDEAS hot topic symposium will cover new trends and research on a few different topics, including ascending aorta, mycotic aortic false aneurysms, genetic aortopathies and endovascular repair, and tackling highly calcified iliac accesses.
Other must-see sessions include the case presentations by experts in the sessions titled “My nightmare aortic endovascular case” and “Amazing bail-outs in complex EVAR”. These sessions guarantee tricky complications with lots of surprises and a unique learning opportunity for attendees who will gain tips and tricks on how to get out of such complicated situations.
In addition to the planned lectures and discussions, IDEAS 2025 will offer practical hands-on planning courses. These interactive workshops will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to gain hands-on experience with simulators or devices under the guidance of expert faculty. Participants will be able to explore new techniques and stay up to date with the latest advancements in equipment.
We look forward to seeing you at IDEAS 2025 to reconnect, learn, and continue to work together in the endeavour of providing the very best multidisciplinary aortic care for our patients.
