Michel Bosiers
Michel Bosiers
(Münster/Germany)

Dr. Michel Bosiers was born in Münster, Germany, but spent his youth and completed his education in Antwerp, Belgium. He pursued his medical degree in Leuven, Belgium, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career in vascular surgery. His dedication to the field led him back to Münster, Germany, to the department of Prof. G. Torsello at St. Franziskus-Hospital and University Hospital, Münster, for specialized training in vascular surgery. It was here that he honed his skills and developed a keen interest in endovascular therapy for peripheral and aortic diseases.

After becoming a vascular surgeon in October 2016, Dr. Bosiers became a consultant in the department of Prof. Torsello, and later with Assoc. Prof. M. Austermann, in January 2019. His expertise and innovative approach culminated in his appointment as the head of endovascular aortic therapy in 2020. In 2021, he became the scientific director at the Institute for Vascular Research at St. Franziskus-Hospital in Münster.

Dr. Bosiers’ scientific and clinical interests lie in peripheral and aortic disease. He is an investigator in numerous studies involving these areas and has been the lead convenor for many national and international workshops. He has delivered numerous lectures at prestigious conferences such as CIRSE, LINC, Charing Cross, Veith, PVI, and ESVS, among others.

His career trajectory took a significant step forward in July 2022 when he joined the Inselspital, University Hospital Bern in Switzerland as a senior consultant in the vascular surgery department of Prof. D. Kotelis.

Dr. Bosiers was awarded a travel grant in 2019, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. With this grant, he undertook an observership at the vascular surgery department of Prof. G. Oderich at the University of Texas Health, Memorial Hermann, Houston in 2023.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Bosiers is an avid skier, swimmer, and cook. These hobbies reflect his zest for life and well-rounded personality. In his current role as senior consultant at the University Hospital Bern, Michel Bosiers continues to drive innovation and excellence in vascular surgery, inspiring his colleagues and improving patient outcomes.

Congratulations to the winning team!
